Widespread Smoke, Showers and Thunderstorm Risk Continue Across Northern Communities
SANDY LAKE – Residents in Sandy Lake, Weagamow Lake, and Deer Lake are waking up to smoky skies and light rain as wildfire smoke continues to impact air quality throughout the region. While Red Lake Fire #12 continues to burn nearby, today’s precipitation may offer some relief to both Fire Rangers and affected communities.
The evacuation order is in effect for Sandy Lake.
However, the combination of persistent smoke and unstable atmospheric conditions means residents should remain vigilant, especially those with pre-existing health conditions or who are more vulnerable to poor air quality.
