Tree-planting crew among those hospitalized following Highway 516 crash
SIOUX LOOKOUT, ON – A serious bus rollover on Highway 516 near Stain Lake has left 25 individuals injured, including one person with potentially life-altering injuries.
The incident, which occurred around 6:45 p.m. on Sunday, June 29, 2025, involved a bus carrying over 30 adult passengers, all reported to be seasonal tree-planters working in the area.
Emergency responders, including the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Northwest EMS, Sioux Lookout Fire Service, Ornge air ambulance, and Ministry of Transportation officials, were quickly on the scene. The OPP’s Technical Collision Investigation team is actively working to determine the cause of the single-vehicle crash.
All injured passengers were transported to nearby hospitals for medical evaluation and treatment.
Authorities have not released identities or specific medical conditions due to privacy concerns but confirmed that one patient has sustained life-altering injuries.
The OPP is urging any witnesses or individuals with dashcam footage from the area around the time of the accident to come forward.
